Travis and Jana are the type of people that you feel completely blessed to know. They are always supporting, ready to offer advice, and are always excited to share in your current joy. As for Maeryn, just look how sweet she is! So full of energy and love. Needless to say, when they asked if I would take their family pictures, I had no hesitation. The three of them have always been able to make me laugh and feel comfortable, and I hope these pictures reflect why.
On a rain-threatening, late-August Saturday, my nerves and excitement began to rise as I happily prepared for the wedding of the wonderful Anastasiya & Nicolas. The day started by meeting some huge smiles and lots of laughing, as the girls enjoyed a brunch, finished up last minute details and got into their stunning dresses. Then, we packed up and ventured off to the ceremony venue - the adorable Sandy Cove Bible Camp. I mean, how cute is their setup?! Canoes, birch, ducks galore, it was all perfect. The sky teased us with sudden downpour, but cleared off only moments before the guests took their seats. The ceremony contained beautiful traditions, heartwarming words and fits of laughter. It was perfect. Not to mention their son, Elliot, made the absolute sweetest ring bearer you could ever meet.
Our next stop was while on route to the reception location. With a crazy fun wedding party, their portraits resulted in a lot more play than work. The groomsmen loved seeing what mischief they could get into, the whole group loved teasing one another. To put it simply, it was a blast. Ducks were the guest of honour this day, apparently, because while working with just the bride and groom, yet another family of ducks showed up to show their congratulations to the newlyweds.
More traditions continued at the reception, along with even more laughter (it seemed to be a popular thing that day). Family and friends chattered and shared stories, speeches were made telling funny (but heartwarming) words, Elliot ran the show with the mic in his small hands, and the crowd cheered on the bride and groom through many kisses.
The evening ended by sneaking off with Nick and Ana to catch the last of the light, and I’m so glad we did. Giving themselves a moment to get caught up in nothing but themselves, and that love translated so clearly to the photographs. The most wonderful end to an incredible day.
It was all fantastic, and all thanks to each of the beautiful souls involved.
