Every trip I venture across the confederation bridge, I dream about the day I'll walk out to the Port Elgin lighthouse. Finally, I stopped being so lazy and just went. On our trip home, Matt and I pulled the car over, put on warm socks and boots and started our walk down the snowy paths. Rabbit tracks were our guide, and birds kept us entertained along the way. The lack of any human presence in the cold scenery accentuated how the animals had taken this silence to their full advantage.
We weren't at the lighthouse for 5 minutes before I heard a loud thud, and turned to find Matt waist deep in water (of course). It then became a race to get back to the car and warmth.
